|Family in office?||None|
|Time in area||Lifelong vally resident|
|Reasons for running||To serve the citizens of Canfield Township in a prudent and efficient manner; to retain and promote legacy and history of township government in Ohio. As trustee I can be responsive and give my personal attention to seek creative and effective solutions to residents’ concerns.|
|Priorities||To address the concerns in the older parts of the township such as septic tank issues and storm water drainage issues particularly in the areas of Canfield Rd., Messerly Rd., Lumont Ave., and Alladin St. I will seek assistance for sanitary sewer or tank repairs for these long-time residents of our township.|
|Qualifications||I have assisted my spouse in the family business throughout the course of my marriage. The company provides aggregates for housing, landscaping, commercial, highway, concrete and asphalt materials throughout Northeast Ohio. The company offers heavy duty dump truck sales and service. My involvement included customer service, public relations, commercial real estate ventures, dispatching, consulting and many other means to keep our employees working in some very tough economic times.
Beyond 24 years of service as an elected official, I have also served 12 years on Mahoning County Mental Health Board and was their first woman Chairman. I served 5 years on the Parkview Counseling Center, Volunteered on various contract agencies of the Mental Health Board including Help Hotline Advisory Committee, D&E Counseling Center, and Eastern Mental Health. Additionally, I served through Burdman Group, Inc. including Veritas House, Horizon House, Transitional Homes, and Sojourner House.
|Positions on the issues||Sanitary sewer has to be a priority for the parkland on Herbert Road purchased by the former trustees. Over 2 million dollars has been spent and to date the property still lacks sewer. This issue has to be addressed.
Canfield Township’s involvement in the ABC Water District (Austintown, Boardman, Canfield) must be examined. This was formed when the JEDD District was dissolved. These studies must be actively pursued in order to obtain results for our residents.
Another area of concern is nuisance properties that bank and mortgage companies have assumed and do not keep up the property. This is a challenge in Canfield Township that requires action in order to insure these properties are maintained.
Progress is being made in the Westbury Development however continued efforts must be made in order to achieve proper entrance and exit for safety services and Westbury residents.
